ORRINGTON and ORLAND – Elizabeth MacLean Littlejohn, 83, of Orland, died Jan. 23, 2014, at her daughter’s home. Born March 29, 1930, in Skowhegan, she was the daughter of Harry A. and Blanche (Hagerman) MacLean.
She attended Portland High School graduating in 1948. She married Robert C. Littlejohn on June 23, 1948, in Porland.
Elizabeth loved to garden and read. She was active in the Orrington Public Library and delivered Meals on Wheels in the Bangor area for many years. She was a devoted grandmother and loved her family. She cared for several children fostering relationships that have lasted throughout the years, which she kept in contact with into their adulthood.
She is survived by six children, Marsha Mushrall and her husband, Robert, of Orland, Brenda Smith and her husband, Bruce Jr., of Winterport, Clifton Littlejohn of Portland, Peter Littlejohn and his wife, Patricia, of South Portland, Jeffery Littlejohn and his wife, Mary, of Derry, N.H., and Matthew Littlejohn and wife, Teresa, of Orrington; 13 grandchildren, Jessica Davis, Laura Parker and her husband, Gregory, Paul Littlejohn and his wife, Erica, Thomas Littlejohn, Nathan Littlejohn and his wife, Jing, Sarah Field and her husband, Michael, Kathleen Lydon and her husband, Richard, Lauren Littlejohn, James Littlejohn, Andrew Littlejohn, Isaac Littlejohn, Kylee Parker, and Bryanna Parker; four great-grandchildren, Alexander and Nathaniel Davis, Fiona Field, and Robert Littlejohn; several nieces and nephews; a special niece, Connie Barbibeau; and a special friend, Barbara Mushrall. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Robert in 2002; her parents; two brothers; and one sister.
Donation may be made in Elizabeth’s memory to the Orrington Public Library, 15 School St., Orrington, ME 04474. The family would like to thank Hancock Home Care and Hospice for their attentive and loving care during Elizabeth’s illness. Family and friends will gather for visitation 2-4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
