Bernard ‘Bernie’ Caron

FORT KENT – Bernard “Bernie” Caron, 73, passed away Jan. 23, 2014, at his sister Blanche’s home. He was born March 7, 1940, in Baker Lake, New Brunswick, the son of Emile and Marthe (Boutot) Caron.

At 11 and half years old Bernie had polio and was in a cast for about two years. He worked as a carpenter in New York and Connecticut for several years, then spent the last 14 years of his life retired in Fort Kent. He enjoyed golfing and perhaps even more was the camaraderie with all the friends he made while golfing. Bernie also enjoyed having breakfast at Doris’ Cafe many mornings with his friends. He was a member of the Fort Kent Lions, the 3rd degree Knights of Columbus both of Fort Kent and the Fort Kent Senior club.

Bernard is survived by 12 sisters, Jeanine, Carmen, Lorraine, Rejeanne, Corrine, Emelienne, Blanche, Theresa, Marceline, Francine, Dorina, and Diane; and one brother, Normand. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one brother, Rino Caron who died on Jan. 4, 2014.

Friends may call 8:30 a.m. until time of service Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Daigle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Spring burial will be held May 6, at the Parish cemetery. Those who wish may donate in Bernie’s memory to the Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund, 194 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
