BREWER, Maine — Police are making the public aware of a company out of Texas that has tried to sell advertising for the city’s school system.

Brewer police Lt. Chris Martin said the Brewer School System has no involvement with Residential Direct Marketing, a company based in San Antonio which has sold advertising material for an alleged fundraiser.

Martin said no such fundraiser exists, and people in the area have purchased advertising through the company electronically and never received any products.

“For reasons unknown, this company has chosen people in the Bangor-Brewer area to target,” Martin said.

Anybody who receives any phone calls from the company should call Brewer police at 989-7003.
