PERRY – Julie Ann (Stanhope) McPhail, 54, born March 14, 1959, in Hartford, Conn., passed away Jan. 23, 2014, after a short illness in a Machias hospital. Despite the illness in her final weeks, as always, Julie wanted to be surrounded by family, not looking for support for herself, but rather in typical Julie style, focused on helping and supporting the family thru her life’s final journey.
To Julie, family meant everything, she enjoyed numerous trips with her kids, grandkids, sister, sister-in-law, nieces and nephews to Story Land and Santa’s Village; family gathering during the 4th of July with her large extended family. Julie enjoyed her Bunco nights with close friends; basketball and baseball games routing for the kids; early morning coffee with her brothers, sons and friends; Black Friday shopping with her sister and nieces; and spending time with grandkids. She fondly remembered her cruise to Alaska with her husband Angus and friends. Julie could always be found at birthday parties, baby showers, weddings, barbeques and any other family oriented event.
She found love and is survived by her husband, life partner and best friend of almost 34 years, Angus McPhail of Perry. Remembering her with love are her sons, Jesse and wife, Jana; son, Justin and his companion, Amber Demmons; nine grandchildren, Jevan and Jordan McPhail, Sabrina, Quinlan, Stephen and Kaylee McPhail, Gavin and Keegan Miller, and Jessalin Rogovich; and great-granddaughter, Josie. She will also be deeply missed by her mother, Joan (Emery) and stepfather, Eugene Bruneau; brother, Butch and wife, Vicky Stanhope; sister, Jamie and husband, Art Roy; brothers, John and wife, Carrie Stanhope, Jeff and wife, Kaloua Stanhope, and Charlie and wife, Heather Stanhope; mother-in-law, Sally McPhail; brothers-in-law, Herb McPhail, and Peter and his wife, Tammy McPhail; sister-in-law, Donna and husband, Frank Hance; sister-in-law, Kathy and husband, Blair Moholland; as well many nieces and nephews that were always under her watchful and caring eyes. Also cherishing her memory are Tina Chaffey and Chrissy LaVoie. Julie was predeceased by her father, James Stanhope; and sisters, Janice McPhail, Fred Ritchie; and father-in-law Carrol McPhail.
Along with her focus on family Julie worked outside the home over the years at Holmes Sardine Factory, Guilford Mill, Town of Perry, Eastport Health Center, Eastport Lobster and Fish, The Lobster Crate and Federal Marine Terminal. Julie was a graduate of Shead High School in Eastport Class of 1977.
