BINGHAM, Maine — Police this week released a surveillance image of an armed bank robber in hopes of landing an arrest.

Chief Deputy Dale Lancaster of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday the case of an armed bank robbery at Camden National Bank on Jan. 18 in which the suspect was yielding a hammer remains under investigation.

“Detectives continue to review videotapes from downtown businesses, detectives are interviewing possible witnesses, and consulting with other law enforcement agencies for similar familiarities,” Lancaster said.

Lancaster also pointed out the Bingham robbery is not connected with a similar robbery in Clinton in which the suspect was also armed with a hammer. That man, 23-year old Jeremy Holt, has been arrested.

The suspect in the Bingham case walked into the bank wearing a black ski mask and demanded cash, and subsequently fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

The robber is a 6-foot, heavyset male. Anyone with information on the robbery should call the sheriff’s office at 474-9591, or the department’s tip line, 474-0230.
