Fairfield man faces multiple drug charges after raid

FAIRFIELD, Maine — A man who awoke to the sound of police raiding his house for drugs Tuesday morning wound up going to jail on multiple charges.

Nathan Spaulding, 23, of Fairfield is being held at the Somerset County Jail, according to Fairfield Police Chief Tom Gould.

Fairfield officers and Somerset County sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant at Spaulding’s home Tuesday morning after a lengthy investigation, Gould said.

Police went to the residence at about 7 a.m., according to Gould. Spaulding did not resist when officers came in.

Eight grams of cocaine with a street value of $600, some marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located, Gould explained, and Spaulding was taken into custody without incident.

Gould was charged with unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, a Class B felony, unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs, a Class C felony, sale and use of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of a scheduled drug.
