CORINNA – Durene “Dukie” (Wentworth) Manson, 77, died Jan. 22, 2014, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 26, 1936, in Corinna, a daughter of Kenneth and Ivy (Bell) Wentworth.
She graduated from Corinna Union Academy, class of 1954 and attended two years at Farmington State Teacher’s College. She worked at several jobs but she considered her work at the Corinna Post Office to be her career. Durene was a member of the Corinna United Methodist Church. She loved crafting, sewing, reading and sharing hobbies with everyone she met. She was a devoted mother to her seven children raising them in her hometown. She married Robert Manson in 1956, and he predeceased her in 1972.
She is survived by her children, David Sr. and wife, Mary, of Como, Miss., and Palmyra, Jeff and wife, Sue, of Corinna, Raymond and wife, Sue, of Eddington, Laura Manson of Waterville, Lynn and husband, Ray Lendabarker, of Berwyn, Ill., Patricia Champluvier, and Howard and wife, Patsy Manson, all of Corinna; a brother, Gary and wife, Mary Wentworth, of North Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Sandra and husband, Gary Garcelon, of Oxford; 11 grandchildren, David, Derek, Heather, Kyle, Brittany, Erin, Sarah, Kathryn, Sabrina, Allison and Hillary; seven great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews and dear friends. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two grandchildren, Daniel and Benjamin Manson.
A celebration of her life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at the common room at Corundel Commons, 14 Hill St., Corinna. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Corinna.
