Raymond Marcus

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – We note the passing of Raymond Marcus, Jan. 11, 2014, after a long illness. Mr. Marcus, who was 75 years old, was born in New York City and retired to Beals in 1990.
He relocated to Virginia Beach in 2012 to marry his first love and current spouse, Dottie. He was a career employee of the U.S. Postal Service as a Payroll Supervisor.
Mr. Marcus was predeceased by his parents, Nathan and Ruth Marcus; his brother, Bernie; and his son, Harold Scott. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Dottie of the home; his brother Jack and wife, Wendy, of North Carolina; as well as his nephews, Brian and Todd; sister and brother-in-law, Charlene and Harold; and nieces, Kathy and Mary of Virginia.
Ray was passionate in all he did, whether it was movies, sports or trivia as well as cooking and enjoying the fruits of his endeavors in the culinary arena. He was a devoted “parent” to his pets. He enjoyed the company of people and was a raconteur and a mentor to young people. Ray was an avid reader with an innate curiosity in a variety of subjects and an outstanding ability to remember events, people and dates. He will be sorely missed.
