INDIAN ISLAND – Scott Jay Sapiel, 48, died Jan. 12, 2014, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 24, 1965, a son of Douglas Francis and Theresa Sapiel.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed many times in the outdoors with his Uncle Nick Sapiel hunting, fishing, camping, and picking fiddle heads. He liked to play cards, trying his luck with scratch tickets, working the Bingos on Indian Island, and Dunkin Donuts runs. He also very much enjoyed his private time, watching cartoons, and his dog Pip.
He is survived by a daughter, Tasheena Sapiel; three brothers, Shaun Snell, Steven Snell, and Sheldon Snell, a sister, Shannon Snell; uncle David Sapiel Sr. and his wife, Sue; niece, Felicia “Pudd” Snell; stepfather, John Bartlett; and the mother of his daughter, Karen “Sharon” Paul; as well as many other family members. He was predeceased by his parents; and an aunt and uncle, Nick and Mary Arline (Ranco) Sapiel.
Friends are invited to gather 5 p.m. Sunday, until the time of the Mass on Monday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, at Parish of the Resurrection St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Indian Island. Spring burial will be at Tribal Cemetery, Indian Island.
