LEVANT, Maine — A broken well pump has prompted the cancellation of classes Friday at Suzanne M. Smith School, the superintendent said Thursday night.

“We’ve got a crew in there for the morning. They’re going to pull the pump out, replace it and chlorinate the well,” SAD 23 Superintendent John Backus said.

Classes are scheduled to resume on Tuesday. Maine public schools will be closed on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. printed on July 27, 2017
