GARDINER, Maine — A local man was arrested Monday after he was found to have child pornography on his computer, police said.

Justin Nichols, 39, is facing one charge of possession of sexually explicit material, Department of Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said.

Nichols’ computer was seized by police upon his arrest, McCausland said. The father of four children, who was released on bail, is prohibited from having contact with anyone under age 18.

Police had received a tip that Nicholas may have been sharing photos of children over the Internet, the spokesman said, and his computer will be analyzed by state police’s Computer Crimes unit.

None of the children involved are believed to be from Maine.
