Man hospitalized after two-vehicle collision in Wiscasset

WISCASSET, Maine — A Topsham man remains hospitalized Wednesday after a head-on collision on U.S. Route 1 in Wiscasset on Tuesday.

Norman Blycher, 81, was in stable condition while Ryan Fendler, 87, of Camden, had been released, Police Chief Troy Cline said Wednesday.

Police and rescue personnel were sent to the area of Naked Leather at about 4 p.m. after Blycher’s van and Fendler’s Volvo collided.

Blycher was heading south when his van swerved across the road, barely missing a witness’ vehicle before striking Fendler.

Route 1 was closed while first responders helped the drivers and removed the vehicles from the scene.
