Police: Man stabbed in Waterville

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

WATERVILLE, Maine — A man was hospitalized Monday after a reported stabbing on Prospect Street, according to police.

The victim, whose name was not released, is recovering from a torso wound at Maine Medical Center in Portland, according to Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey.

Police were called to an altercation just before 5 p.m. Monday, according to Rumsey, and found that the victim was suffering from a stab or cut to the left side of his torso.

The man was not cooperative with police and refused medical treatment at the scene, the deputy chief said. He went to a local hospital by a private vehicle before being transported to Maine Medical Center.

Rumsey said Wednesday morning police have been unable to speak with the victim or identify any suspects.

“There are many gaps at this point,” he said.

Detective Alan Perkins is investigating the case, and anyone with information is encouraged to call Waterville police at 680-4700.
