Nadia Veayo

BANGOR – Nadia Veayo, 90, passed away Jan. 3, 2014, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Feb. 18, 1923, in Bangor, the daughter of Walter and Myrtle (Leland) Canty.
After graduation from Bangor High School she attended and graduated from Beal Business College. She worked a few years in various offices within the Bangor area. Nadia was an avid animal lover and raised many pets in her life time. She also loved to do all kinds of needle work.
On New Year’s Day in 2008 she was predeceased by her childhood sweetheart, her soul mate, her best friend, her husband of 65 years, Galen Veayo. She is survived by a daughter, Jayne Mann; two granddaughters, Reagan Spellman, and Lindsey Leadbetter and her son, Bradley; a nephew, Galen Flagg and wife, Nancy; three nieces, Sandra Smith and family, Jacqueline Washburn and family, and Louisa Siller and family.
A graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor, with the Rev. Clayton Blackstone, pastor of the Advent Christian Church, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at 2:15 p.m. at the Superintendents Lodge, 1048 State Street entrance, Bangor. Gifts in her memory may be made to Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mount Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401. A service of Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor.
