BELFAST, Maine — A local man who allegedly pushed his girlfriend to the floor this weekend after he became enraged that she didn’t cook him dinner was arrested, police said this week.
Mark Stovall, 34, of Belfast was charged with domestic violence criminal mischief and obstructing report of crime or injury after the incident was reported to the Belfast Police Department on Saturday evening.
The victim told police that they’d been having a fight and that Stovall pushed her and grabbed her phone when she attempted to call for help.
“He wasn’t happy she hadn’t cooked him any food,” Detective Sgt. Bryan Cunningham said. “She said she punched him in the face first during the struggle, after he pushed her down.”
Investigating officers determined that he was the primary aggressor, Cunningham said, adding that alcohol was involved in the incident.
Stovall was taken to Waldo County Jail to be booked, and was released Monday night on bail set at $300 unsecured cash.
