Ranquist leads UMF women past NEC

HENNIKER, N.H. — Lindsay Ranquist led a group of four double-figure scorers with 15 points Saturday, helping the University of Maine-Farmington post a 72-59 North Atlantic Conference women’s basketball victory over New England College Monday.

Kennadi Grover contributed 14 points and eight rebounds for the University of Maine-Farmington (5-8, 4-2 NAC), while Ayla Allen and Meghan Smith put in 12 points each. Holly Oliver added nine rebounds and six assists.

Kayla Lawlor spearheaded the offense for New England College (7-5, 4-2 NAC) with a game-high 19 points. Kiley Williams provided 11 points and eight rebounds.

Colby-Sawyer 83, Thomas 35

At New London, N.H., Jessica Shenkel’s 21 points helped the Chargers earn a lopsided North Atlantic Conference victory over the Terriers on Saturday.

Kelsey Cahill provided 14 points and six rebounds for New England College (6-6, 5-1 NAC) and Ashley Fruzzetti scored 12 points.

For Thomas College of Waterville (2-9, 2-4 NAC), Katie McAllister scored eight points and Kelly Macomber had seven points.

Conn. College 72, Colby 67

At Waterville on Saturday, Willa McKinley went 9-for-11 from the field and made all four of her 3-point attempts on the way to 22 points to help Connecticut College (8-6, 1-1 NESCAC) hold off Colby (5-9, 0-2).

Liz Malman added 15 points, five rebounds, and five assists for the winners.

Colby’s Desi Smith had a game-high 27 points on 7-for-11 field goal shooting and an 11-for-12 effort from the foul line. Brooke Chandor added 15 points, while point guard Mia Diplock scored 11 points and dished out seven assists.

Men’s Basketball

UMF 90, NEC 67

At Henniker, N.H., on Saturday, forward Garrett Clemmer finished with a game-high 23 points on 8-of-10 shooting, lifting the Beavers to a North Atlantic Conference victory over the Pilgrims.

Andrew Dickey scored 19 points and Pet Sumner provide 14 points and six assists for the University of Maine-Farmington (6-6, 4-2 NAC).

Dezron Wilson finished with a team-high 15 points for New England College (5-8, 2-4 NAC). Jonathan Byrnes chipped in 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Colby-Sawyer 85, Thomas 73

At New London, N.H., Zach Bean scored 20 points and Mike Dias tossed in 18 Saturday to carry the Chargers to a North Atlantic Conference win over the Terriers.

Koang Thok added 12 points for Colby-Sawyer (6-6, 5-1 NAC).

Garen Manzo scored a game-high 25 points to power Thomas College of Waterville (3-8, 3-3 NAC). Levi Barnes provided 18 points, nine rebounds and four assists, while Mike Akanji added 11 points and six rebounds.

Conn. College 82, Colby 74

At Waterville, Mason Lopez scored a game-high 26 points and gave Connecticut College (7-6, 1-1 NESCAC) the lead for good with a 3-point shot with 6:42 to play in the win over Colby (7-5, 1-1)Saturday.

Ryan Jann had a team-high 20 points and dished three assists for Colby, which trailed 45-33 at halftime. Chris Hudnut finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Connor O’Neil chipped in with 13 points, Sam Willson had 10 points, and Luke Westman added eight points and six assists.
