MONTGOMERY, Ala. – George Joseph “Joey” Baulch passed away Friday evening, Jan. 10, 2014, due to complications from a valiant 28-year fight with multiple sclerosis at the age of 60. He was born Aug. 30, 1953, in Houlton.
Joey was predeceased by his parents, Colonel Henry Leigh Baulch of Houlton, and Jocelyn Hyche Baulch Fannin of Montgomery, Ala.; as well as a younger brother, John Ebbett Baulch of Prattville, Ala. Joey is survived by his son, Harry Leigh Baulch of Nashville, Tenn., currently serving in the U.S. Army; an older brother, Harry Allen Baulch and sister-in-law, Nicole Reeves Baulch; nephews, Stephan Baulch and Alec Baulch of Cary, N.C.; sister-in-law, Beth Bridges Baulch; niece, Allison Baulch King and husband, Matthew King; great-nephew, Carson James King; nephew, Brian Andrew Baulch and wife, Samantha Baulch, of Prattville, Ala.; and a younger brother, Michael Andrew Baulch of Huntsville, Ala.
Following his four years of service with the United States Army in Darmstadt, Germany, Joey studied at Troy University before completing his degree as a draftsman at J. F. Drake Technical College. He had a 19 year career with the State of Alabama Highway Department prior to his retirement in May of 2007. In retirement Joey enjoyed coin collecting, genealogy research, and science fiction.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, with the funeral service to follow at noon in the Laughlin Service Funeral Home Chapel, 2320 Bob Wallace Ave., Huntsville, Ala.
