CAMBRIDGE – Norris B. Chadbourne, 89, died peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, in Dover-Foxcroft. He was born March, 19, 1924, the son of George and May (Gilman) Chadbourne.
He graduated from Harmony High School and proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Norris was employed as a hand sewer for many years in Harmony, Pittsfield and Dexter. He later worked as a carpenter and took great pride in learning the trade. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed gardening. He was a devoted husband and wonderful father.
He is survived by his loving wife, Hazel Chadbourne of Cambridge; sons, Clinton Watson and wife, Pam, of Westfield, and Chester Watson and wife, Tini, of Indonesia; daughter-in-law, Rachel Watson of Tuscola, Texas; a special, like-a-son, Larry Davis and wife, Irene, of Cambridge; grandchildren, Marcus Watson and wife, Stephanie, of Denton, Texas, Chris Watson and wife, Ana, of Fort Worth, Texas, David Watson of Hamlin, W.Va., Donna Dunkle and husband, Keven, of Rocklin, Calif., and Jay Watson of Tuscola, Texas; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Clyde Chadbourne and wife, Rosemarie, of Cambridge, Emma Watson of Dover-Foxcroft, Lenora Watson and husband, Richard, of Harmony and Cecil Chadbourne and wife, Meredith, of Harmony; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Clarence Watson; grandson, Derek Watson; and siblings, Ray Chadbourne, George Chadbourne Jr., Effie Gourley, Clayton Chadbourne, Doris Blanchard, and Colleen Wilbur.
The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, with a funeral service immediately following at 2 p.m. at Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, with the Rev. Henry Thibodaux officiating. A spring committal service will be held with military honors at Chadbourne Cemetery, Harmony. Care has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.
