OAKLAND, Maine — An Oakland woman was arrested Wednesday morning after police say she threatened her boyfriend with a knife during an argument, police said.

Theresa Tibbetts, 46, is facing a charge of domestic violence threatening with a dangerous weapon, a Class D misdemeanor, Oakland police Capt. Rick Stubbert said.

The series of events began around 11 a.m. Wednesday when Stubbert and Officer Todd Burbank were dispatched to a reported domestic disturbance.

An apparent argument between Tibbetts and the man had grown heated, and Tibbetts had threatened to stab the man, according to Stubbert.

The man was not injured, but Tibbetts was quickly taken into custody and brought to Kennebec County Jail, the captain said.

Tibbetts was later released on $500 unsecured bail.
