Hampden boys basketball team rolls by Brewer for 31st straight victory

HAMPDEN, Maine — The Hampden Academy Broncos took a 10-point lead at the end of the first quarter and then rolled to a 67-33 schoolboy basketball victory over the Brewer Witches Thursday night.

It was the 31st straight win for the Broncos, the defending Class A state champs, now 9-0 this season. Brewer slipped to 2-7.

Isaiah Bess paced Hampden with 23 points and Brendan McIntyre added 13. Zach Gilpin chipped in with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Jared St. Thomas and Matt Pushard each scored seven points to lead Brewer.
