‘Legally Blonde,’ the musical

BREWER — Next Generation Theatre’ teen group will stage “Legally Blonde,” the musical, at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 10-11, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 11-12th at the theater, 39 Center St.

Seventeen local students will perform the upbeat story of the peppy blonde, Elle Woods, who appears to have it all before her life is turned upside down when her boyfriend breaks up with her. She comes to realize her true potential after using her charm to get into Harvard Law School.

‘Proof’

ORONO — Orono Community Theatre will present the intense psychological drama “Proof” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Friday, Jan. 16-18 and Jan. 24-25, and at 2 p.m.  Sunday, Jan. 19 and Jan. 26, at  Cyrus Pavilion Theatre, University of Maine. The show is directed by Sandy Cyrus, with set design by Deb Puhl and costume design by Hannah Cyrus.

Taking the starring roles are Jennifer Hancock, Dick Brucher, Hailey Crabtree and Joel Crabtree.

Tickets are $12, $6 UMaine students with ID card. Tickets are available at Orono Pharmacy and at the door.

Painting at UMaine

ORONO — Painters and would-be painters can paint 9 a.m.-noon Fridays beginning Jan. 10, in the Wyeth Family Studio Art Center in the Painting Studio at the University of Maine.  Free parking passes are available from Gateway Seniors Without Walls. Bring your own materials. Call 889-3031 for information and to register.
