BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police are seeking the public’s help to identify a suspect in a bank robbery near the Bangor Mall on Saturday afternoon.

The TD Bank branch at 878 Stillwater Ave. was reportedly robbed about 3:10 p.m, according to a press release issued about 5:30 p.m.

“A lone suspect described as a white male, late 30s or early 40s entered the bank wearing a black sweatshirt with a gray hoodie underneath and dark jeans,” Sgt. Catherine E. Rumsey, spokeswoman for the Bangor police said in the press release. “He was described by the bank staff as being approximately 6-foot, 2 inches to 6-foot, 4-inches tall and 200 to 220 pounds.”

The suspect, who is wearing sunglasses in photos released by police, passed a note to a bank employee demanding money, Rumsey said. He left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen running behind the Five Guys restaurant on Stillwater Avenue.

The police released two surveillance photos and ask that anyone with information about the incident or the suspect call Bangor police at 947-7384. Those wishing to remain anonymous, may call that number and use the 6 extension.

No further information was to be release Saturday, she said.
