ST. AGATHA, Maine — A local teenager was issued a summons for operating after suspension following a two-vehicle accident Friday morning.

According to information released late Friday by Aroostook County Chief Deputy Sheriff Darrell Crandall, the 17-year-old was leaving the St. Agatha school driveway on to Route 162 around 11:30 a.m., when his 2012 Ford Focus slid into the path of a southbound tractor-trailer truck operated by Mark Lavoie, 51, of Westfield for Northstate Transportation of Caribou.

The car collided with the rear axle of the 2007 Freightliner’s trailer, spun out from under the trailer and stopped when it struck a snowbank.

The Ford Focus’ airbags did deploy, and the car had major damage to the front end. The tractor-trailer had minor damages. No injuries were reported, Crandall said.
