BANGOR, Maine — A local man was arrested on New Year’s Eve after he was found slumped over the wheel of his vehicle, and police later found heroin in the car.

Jeffrey Kimball, 36, was found slumped over the wheel at the corner of Palm and Garland streets around 10:15 p.m., Bangor police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey.

Officers Tim Wheelden and Nick Huggins were sent to the scene after a passerby saw Kimball’s stopped vehicle, Rumsey said.

After Wheelden placed Kimball under arrest for OUI, police say a search of his vehicle turned up prescription pills that weren’t in Kimball’s name, hypodermic needles and multiple packages of a white powder that tested positive for heroin.

Kimball’s arrest came during a busy night for Bangor police in which 56 calls for service were placed between 4 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Kimball was additionally charged with possession of a Schedule W drug, two charges of possession of a Schedule Z drug and possession of a hypodermic apparatus and brought to Penobscot County Jail.
