SOUTHINGTON, CONN. – Evelyn Dorothy “Evie” (Sutherland) Morin, 89, of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013 at Bristol Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Edgar S. Morin Sr. Evie was born on July 1, 1924 in Caribou, daughter of the late Elijah and Della (Pierce) Sutherland.
She attended Caribou schools and graduated from Caribou High School. She and husband, Edgar, worked side by side farming in the early years of their marriage. They gradually transitioned from farming to the construction business. Eventually they moved their business to Plantsville, CT. The business remained successful until their retirement. Edgar and Evie enjoyed their homes in Florida, Caribou, and home base in Plantsville, CT. They loved riding their snowmobiles and motorcycles when time permitted.
The loss of daughter Della and son David, at early ages, was devastating. Despite numerous construction jobs and leisure travel, Edgar and Evie’s grief was ever present for the remainder of their lives. Evie was also predeceased by a sister, Virginia DesJardins and brothers Thomas and John Sutherland. She is survived by her son, Edgar S. Morin Jr. and his wife, Carol of Bristol, 3 grandchildren, Edgar S. Morin III and wife, Jessica, Monica Reynolds, and Melissa Lavan and husband, Thomas; 9 great-grandchildren, Alexus, Matthew, and Emma Morin, Ethan and Jacob Reynolds, and Aiden, Liam, Olivia, and Madison Lavan. She is also survived by her brother, Frederick Sutherland and wife, Linda of Fort Fairfield, sister-in-law, Jean Sutherland of Caribou, ME, brothers-in-law, Simeon Morin and wife, Yolande, Delmar Morin and wife Jackie and Wilson Morin and wife, Claire. She also leaves sisters-in-law, Lillian Anderson, Mae Morin, Lilliana Morin, Lucille Morin and Kay Morin; several nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
