Alice E. Christiansen

BANGOR AND BREWER – Alice E. Christiansen, 91, died Dec. 21, 2013 at a Bangor health care center. She was born Dec. 31, 1921 in Fairfield, the daughter of Alden W. and Ethel G. (Marden) Allen.
Alice’s working life included some time spent in Washington DC working for the CIA. She graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a BS in Elementary Education and taught school for 11 years in Glenburn, Dedham and Mexico, Maine. She also worked and volunteered for 6 years for the Penquis CAP Foster Grandparent Program.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Gunn of Auburn and Susan Mailman and her husband, Darren of Old Town; four grandchildren, Erica and Adam West, both of Auburn and Gary Lee and Garrett Johnson of Old Town; one great-grandson, Parker; her sister-in-law, Connie of Dennysville; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters, Barbara (Allen) Bean, Fred Allen, Charles Allen, Alden Allen, Jr. and Roberta C. Allen.
A graveside service will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Fairfield at a later date. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association of Maine at
