Basic training

WINTERPORT — Air Force Airman Justin Clewley graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

A 2010 graduate of Hampden Academy, Clewley is the son of Stephen Clewley of Winterport.


Meritorious Service Medal

AUGUSTA — Lt. Col. Diane Dunn from Newburgh was presented the Meritorious Service Medal at the senior leader’s conference held Dec. 14 in Orono. Dunn was recognized for her exceptional performance as the region 1 joint planner for the Maine Army National Guard during a recent emergency response exercise, “Vigilant Guard.”

In the largest emergency response exercise ever conducted in New England, Dunn successfully brought together representatives from state, local and international emergency agencies, along with National Guard soldiers from seven states and hundreds of first responders, testing Maine’s emergency preparedness.



AUGUSTA — Brig. Gen. James D. Campbell, adjutant general of Maine, announced the promotions to the ranks specified of these Maine Army National Guard members:

• Sgt. 1st Class Scott Jones, Levant, 251st Engineer Co. (Sapper);

• Staff Sgt. Collin Moncrieffe, Bangor, 286th Support and Sustainment Battalion;

• Sgt. David Hallett, Corinth, 136th Engineer Co.;

• Sgt. Jeffrey Lewis, Hampden, Detachment 2, Co. C, 1/126th Aviation;

• Sgt. Howard Palmer Jr., Bangor, Detachment 1, Co. E, 186th BSB;

• Sgt. Jason Priest, Old Town, 195th Army Band;

• Spec. Andrew Mahoney, Bangor, Co. C, 1/126th Aviation;

• Spec. Samantha Roberts, Glenburn, 152d Maintenance Co.

All were promoted in November.
