Two-car collision in Belfast sends driver to hospital

By Abigail Curtis, BDN Staff

BELFAST, Maine — One woman was taken to the hospital after a two-car accident Friday morning at the intersection of U.S. Route 1 and Route 52.

Belfast Police Officer Eric Kelley said that the accident was called in at 10:46 a.m., after two southbound vehicles collided on U.S. Route 1. A 1997 Ford Explorer driven by Stephen Boyle, 42, of Northport, apparently strayed into the path of Alyssa Russell, 19, of Stockton Springs. Russell was driving a Toyota Corolla and complained of pain after first responders arrived at the crash site.

She was taken to Waldo County General Hospital, where she was treated and released later that day, according to Kelley.

Both vehicles appeared to be totaled, Kelley said. The accident remains under investigation.
