GEORGETOWN, Maine — A deceased adult found Tuesday afternoon in a car parked on Sequinland Road in Georgetown likely died as a result of suicide, police said.

Chief Deputy Brett Strout of the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday declined to release the person’s name or other identifying information pending notification of the person’s family.

Deputies went with the Georgetown Fire Department to the road, which leads to Reid State Park, just after 1 p.m. and discovered the body in the car, Strout said.

The body has since been released by the state medical examiner’s office to a local funeral home.
