Talk for Tweens

BANGOR — A free Gallery Talk for Tweens will take place 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at the University of Maine Museum of Art, 40 Harlow St. The talk is an interactive gallery tour involving the work of sculptor Sachiko Akiyama, suitable for children ages 9 through12.  ‘The Nutcracker’

BANGOR — The Bangor Symphony Orchestra annual holiday production of “The Nutcracker,” featuring the Robinson Ballet will be performed at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at the Collins Center for the Arts. Conductor Jacomo Bairos will lead the orchestra and the Bangor Area Children’s Choir in Tchaikovsky’s memorable score, with choreography by Maureen Lynch, Keith Robinson and Stevie Dunham.

The cast for “The Nutcracker” includes Stevie Dunham as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Edward Vanzura as the Nutcracker Prince, Julie Fasse as the Snow Queen, Haley Williams as Clara, Keith Robinson as Godfather Drosselmeyer and Nate Bond as the Cavalier.

Tickets are available through the Collins Center for the Arts at the University of Maine by calling 581-1755, in person or at bangorsymphony.org. Prices range from $18 to $34, and $8 to $24 to children 18 and under and students. All orders are subject to a $3 per ticket processing fee.

Art camp for children

BANGOR — The University of Maine Museum of Art will hold its Winter Art Camp 8:30 a.m.- noon Monday through Friday, Feb. 17-21, at the museum. The camp is open to third- and fourth-graders. Tuition is $110 museum members,  $125 others, $100 if payment is received by Monday, Jan. 13. Art supplies will be provided.

Featured artist

HOLDEN — Artist Renee Stupak of Bangor will be the featured artist through February at Fields Pond Audubon Center. Stupak said much of her artistic inspiration for her oil and acrylic paintings come from birch trees.

The paintings are on view 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
