SACO, Maine — A local woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon on suspicion she was engaging in prostitution in her home, according to police.
The series of events leading to the arrest of Denel Mulligan, 40, began in August when police suspected prostitution activities were occurring at her residence, Saco Deputy Chief Jeff Holland said.
Saco police and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency collaborated on the subsequent investigation, as police also believed drug activity was going on at the address, according to Holland.
Mulligan was charged with engaging in prostitution, a Class E misdemeanor, upon her arrest on Wednesday, Holland said. The investigation remains open, he said.
Mulligan was transported to the York County Jail, where she remained Thursday.
