Report: Levant man arrested after standoff at his home

LEVANT, Maine — A man was arrested on Mudgett Road early Wednesday morning following a standoff, WABI reports.

Gary Bouchard, 40, of Levant was charged with domestic violence criminal threatening, domestic violence terrorizing. criminal threatening and creating a police standoff, the report said.

The standoff began at around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and lasted until 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, the affiliate said. Troopers responded to a call of a man who was drunk and waving a baseball bat and neighbors reported Bouchard firing off a gunshot while police were en route.

Police told WABI that Bouchard barricaded himself in his home and that the State Police Tactical and Crisis Negotiation teams were called to resolve the situation. The tactical team took Bouchard into custody at 2:45 a.m., the report said.
