New Jersey man allegedly rams into cruiser while leaving Bangor nightclub, arrested on OUI charge

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — A drunk driver who ran into a Bangor police cruiser on his way out of a nightclub parking lot early Saturday morning is facing multiple charges.

Robert Zarrilli, 20, of Deptford, N.J., struck the patrol car while leaving the Half Acre parking lot shortly after drinking hours had ended for the night, according to Bangor police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey.

Zarrilli fled the scene but officers were quickly able to locate him on Court Street, Rumsey said.

Field sobriety tests confirmed that Zarrilli was too intoxicated to drive, and he was placed under arrest and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, OUI and operating without a license, the sergeant said.

Zarrilli had been driving on a suspended New Jersey license.
