ROCKLAND, Maine — The Rockland area school board has scheduled another closed-door meeting for 6 p.m. Thursday.
The meeting originally was posted to be about a personnel matter but the district sent out a revised agenda Monday afternoon saying it would be with the board’s attorney to discuss the board’s legal rights and responsibilities.
The Regional School Unit 13 board met briefly last week on a personnel matter but ended up not voting on whether to renew the contract of Superintendent Lew Collins. No explanation was given last week for why no action was taken.
The closed-door meeting scheduled for Thursday night, however, will be held immediately after a 4:30 p.m. public meeting during which the board will meet with facilitator Robert Hasson. The meeting was scheduled to help the board work better together.
Collins’ contract expires June 30. Both administrators and teachers have sent letters to the board criticizing his management style and decisions.
The meetings will be at the McLain School in Rockland.
