GARDINER, Maine — Police are looking for a man to ask questions about a Saturday night shooting that resulted in injury to his girlfriend at her Costello Road residence, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.
Police declined to release either the identify of the woman, who is in her 30s, or the man they are looking for in connection with her shooting.
Police aren’t describing the man as a suspect, but say they want to talk to him.
McCausland said the woman was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston by LifeFlight helicopter.
State police have assisted local police in the investigation, but Gardiner Police Department is taking the lead, according to McCausland. Gardiner police officials could not be reached for comment Sunday afternoon.
McCausland said police have declined to provide a description of the man, but have said he is from the Wiscasset area and that they believe he was there during the shooting incident. He said police also don’t believe the man is a threat.
The unidentified man has not been cooperative with police, who are looking for more information from him, according to McCausland.
Police received reports that someone had been shot shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday. They are still investigating how the gunshot wound was inflicted, according to McCausland.
