Master Sargent Robert L. Stevens

BREWER – Master Sargent Robert L. Stevens, 78, died Dec. 1, 2013, in Bangor. He was born May 12, 1935, in Skowhegan, to Everett and Ecla Stevens.

he served in the U.S. Army from January 1956 to June 1976. He served in Berlin, Goose Bay Labrador, Vietnam and Korea, and retired from Aberdeen Proving Grounds. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 53 and lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans NCOA. After retirement from the Army he worked at Tillson’s True Value Hardware in Dexter for 10 years before retiring.

He is survived by his wife, Rosanne Cox-Stevens of Brewer; four children, Terry Gauvin, Diane Alexander, Teresa Bowker, Lori Stevens and several inherited daughters; eight grandchildren, Jason Ouellette, Denise Stevens, Crystal Alexander, Scott Bell, Specialist Robert L. Stevens II, Kady Taylor, Casey Stevens and Jenna Daggett; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Stevens and his favorite sister-in-law, Patty Stevens; four sisters, Dorine and husband, Jay, Loretta Clark, Millie and husband, Harlen King and Dale Farrenkopf; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held in the spring.
