BANGOR, Maine — The Maine Democratic Party announced Thursday that the 2014 state convention will be held May 30-31 at the Cross Insurance Center.
The convention will include speeches by top Democrats, including 2nd District U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud, the party’s likely gubernatorial candidate, 1st District U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree and candidates to succeed Michaud in the 2nd District.
“We are also thrilled to be holding our convention in Bangor,” Maine Democratic Party Chairman Ben Grant said in a prepared statement. “The 2nd Congressional District has been well represented by Democrats for the past 18 years and we intend to keep it that way. This event will be a showcase for all of our talented candidates as well an incredible organizing opportunity.”
The party will hold its biennial statewide caucuses on March 2.
The Maine Republican Party also will hold its state convention at the Cross Center. That event is scheduled for April 25-27.
