TREMONT, Maine — Firefighters were at the scene of a structure fire at a local restaurant and lounge, a Hancock County emergency dispatcher confirmed about 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Few details about the fire at Capn Nemos, located at 45 Harbor Drive, were immediately available at that time. Fire crews from Tremont and several nearby communities, including Seal Cove, Southwest Harbor and Somesville, were fighting to gain control of the fire.

“It’s a big one,” said Sheryl Harper, owner of McKinley Market, located around the corner from Capn Nemos. She said flames could be seen shooting through the roof of the eatery’s signature lighthouse, a structure attached to the main building.

Harper said a police officer at the fire scene told her that everyone who was inside the building at the time escaped and that there had been no reports of injuries.
