BANGOR, Maine — A man involved in a collision on outer Broadway late Tuesday afternoon was apparently intoxicated, police said.

Lewis Pearson, 52, of Hermon was headed northbound when his SUV crossed the centerline, Bangor police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey said.

Pearson’s vehicle wound up colliding with a Subaru driven by Guillermo Olivos, 55, of Bangor, and the impact tipped the Subaru over and trapped Olivos in his vehicle, Rumsey said.

Bangor firefighters managed to free Olivos shortly after and took him and Pearson to Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment.

Rumsey said Person was charged with OUI, failing to maintain control of a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both vehicles were totaled.
