SACO, Maine — Police are investigating a pair of armed robberies along with an attempted theft.

The first incident occurred on Thursday when a man held up the Beachway General Store at gunpoint, according to Saco Deputy Chief Jeffrey Holland.

Holland said the suspect entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded cash. The suspect fled behind the business, and was not located despite a canine track.

The robber stands between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall and was wearing a tan Carhartt jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt, denim jeans and a camo-style fleece facemask, Holland said.

On Friday, at Lupa’s Arepera and Grill on North Street, a man standing between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall attempted to gain access to a cash register, Holland said. No weapon was involved.

That suspect, who weighs 170 to 180 pounds and was wearing a dark jacket and orange winter hat, may have fled in a dark sedan, Holland said.

While police were fielding that complaint, dispatchers informed officers of an armed robbery at the Big Apple station, Holland said.

That suspect entered the business, threatened the clerk with a handgun and demanded money. The robber is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 155-160 pounds, is in his mid to late-20s and has blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, a camo-style hooded sweatshirt, denim jeans and black sneakers.

Holland said state police assisted Saco police with a canine track after the suspect fled the scene, but he remains at large. It was unclear if the incidents are connected.

Anyone who has seen any of these men should contact Saco police at 282-8216.
