BANGOR, Maine — A drunk driver attempting to pull into a parking spot outside a Bangor hotel Monday was ultimately arrested after hitting a parked car twice, police say.

Lori Hesseltine, 45, of Bangor hit the same vehicle on two occasions while looking for a place to park at the Holiday Inn on Odlin Road, according to Bangor police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey.

Police were called to the scene shortly after 1 p.m., Rumsey said.

After striking the parked vehicle the second time, Hesseltine managed to get her car into a parking spot and went inside Pete and Larry’s bar at the hotel, Rumsey said.

Hesseltine’s keys were left in the car with the vehicle running.

Officer Jim Dearing placed Hesseltine under arrest and charged her with operating under the influence, Rumsey said. Her blood-alcohol level registered at .18, more than twice the state’s legal limit of .08.

Hesseltine was brought to Penobscot County Jail and later released on bail.
