PLEASANT POINT, Maine — A pharmacy technician at the Pleasant Point Indian Health Services Center has been arrested and charged with stealing drugs from the facility, the town’s police department announced in a press release Sunday.

Tonia Smith, 43, was arrested Friday on a charge of stealing drugs, a Class C crime. The Pleasant Point Police Department was investigating some discrepancies with the center’s pharmacy orders. Officers determined that hydrocodone, Carisoprodol and Alprazolam had been ordered and removed from the pharmacy.

A search warrant was executed at 29 Marsh Lane in Pleasant Point, and local police were assisted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Eastport Police Department.

The case is still under investigation and more charges are likely to be filed, Pleasant Point police said in the release.
