Katrina Meserve, a senior outside hitter who helped Falmouth High School win its first Class A state volleyball championship this season, has been named the Maine Volleyball Coaches Association player of the year.
Meserve was joined on the MVCA Class A first team by Falmouth senior outside hitter Riley Burfeind, senior middle hitter Mary Cleary (27 aces, 70 service points, 123 kills for .350 percent, 77 digs, 126 serve receive, 19 blocks) and senior setter Lauren Piper (177 assists, 36 aces, 109 service points, 99 serve receive, 15 kills, 18 digs) of Scarborough, senior middle hitter Jordynne Copp of Greely of Cumberland Center and senior setter Sophie Moore of Cape Elizabeth.
Second-team Class A honorees were junior outside hitter Sarah Phelps of Mount Desert Island (49 aces on 82 percent serving with 94 rotation points; 151 kills with .129 hitting; 5.5 total blocks, 90 assists, and 53 digs), senior middle hitter Sarah Stacki of Cape Elizabeth, senior outside hitter Abby Mills of Scarborough (42 aces, 129 service points, 117 kills for .211 percent, 55 digs, 85 serve receive), freshman setter Kayley Cimino and senior libero Lexi Foster of Greely, junior setter Megan Tammaro of Falmouth and senior libero Sam Robinson of Gorham (142 service attempts, 18 aces, 79 points, 21 kills as a back-row player only, 661 ball-handling attempts, 178 receptions, 4.0 receptions per game, 212 digs, 4.7 digs per game).
Earning Class A honorable mention status were junior outside hitter Sarah Shelton of Ellsworth, sophomore outside hitter Jocelyn Moody of Biddeford, junior setter Sarah Bradley of Kennebunk and sophomore libero Lydia Brennerman of Cape Elizabeth.
Jon Roberts of Scarborough was named MVCA Class A coach of the year, while Kelly Woodward of Machias was honored as Class B coach of the year.
Earning first-team MVCA honors in Class B were senior middle hitter Kassidy Seeley (137 of 168 serves, 39 aces, 93 kills, 4 assists, 30 receptions, 21 blocks, 13 digs) and junior outside hitter Lauren Raye (156 of 186 serves, 59 aces, 116 kills, 15 assists, 69 receptions, 2 blocks, 48 digs) of Washington Academy of East Machias, junior outside hitter Angleana Lyons (20 aces, 88 percent serving, 90 kills, 18 assists, 53 digs) and senior middle hitter Jodie Wood (36 aces, 89.7 serving, 91 kills, 10 assists, 60 digs) of Machias, senior libero Maddy Maierhofer (185 digs and 3.4 digs per set, both best in Class B) and senior setter Grace Mallett (354 assists and 96 service aces, both best in Class B) of state champion Yarmouth and senior middle hitter Charlotte Esancy of North Yarmouth Academy.

Senior setter Keirstin Barker (198 of 210 serves, 44 aces, 39 kills, 148 assists, 41 receptions, 47 digs) of Washington Academy, senior outside hitter Hannah Elrick of Yarmouth, junior middle hitter Carson Hold (71 kills, 31.7 kill percent, 8 assists, 52 blocks, 12 digs) of Calais and senior setter Amanda Preston (22 aces, 88.4 percent serving, 11 kills, 68 assists, 35 digs) of Machias earned Class B honorable mention status.
