BANGOR — EMMC Auxiliary celebrated 120 years of giving at its recent annual meeting held at Seasons Grille and Lounge in Bangor. Members and guests were given an update on the Eastern Maine Medical Center Modernization and Construction Project. Debbie Johnson, EMMC president and CEO, and Joe D’Antuno, senior manager of the project, talked with attendees about how the project developed and its current status.
The Auxiliary presented a $69,150 check to Johnson, for the Auxiliary’s 2013-2014 patient support, and support for the Eastern Maine Healthcare System community. Included in the check were:
• $50,000 toward the Auxiliary’s $350,000 pledge for the Heroes, Hope and Healing capital campaign.
• $13,500 for the EMHS Foundation-Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.
• $4,000 for nursing scholarships of $1,000 each, awarded to Husson University students Lauren Raymond Papa, Manda Duke, Noelle Braley and Keyleigh Bennett.
• $1,650 for awards, gifts and memorial contributions.
All of the funds were raised from a combination of money earned from the Gift Shop, the Kitchen Tour and the Winter Beach Ball during the past year.
Ginger Ward Green, outgoing president of the Auxiliary, recognized board members Ann Marie Orr and Danelle Weston, whose terms were expiring.
Officers and new board members elected were Eileen Hernandez, president; Jan Currier, vice president; Sarah Quirk, secretary; Susan Nasberg, treasurer; Nancy Long, board member; Susan Nasberg, board member.
