Game notes: This will be the first game in the Cross Insurance Center for the Maine men. Neither team starts a senior. Maine will start two juniors, a sophomore and two freshmen while the Highlanders feature three sophomores and two freshmen. Maine will have to defend better than it did in its two games against Division I opponents Rhode Island and George Washington in which it allowed an average of 102.5 points per game. The Highlanders have won two in a row, beating Army 89-85 and New Hampshire 71-63. They are shooting 50.7 percent from the floor and 43.3 percent from three-point land. Both teams have important contributors off the bench. Guard Shaun Lawton is averaging 17.5 points per game for Maine while NJIT’s top rebounder, Daquan Holiday, leads his team in rebounding with five per game and Winfield Willis is averaging a team-high 3.8 assists.
