Police say guns, ammunition stolen from Old Town Trading Post

OLD TOWN, Maine — Old Town police are investigating a burglary early Friday morning in which guns and ammunition were taken from a Bennoch Road sporting goods store, a city police officer said Monday.

Though he declined to specify what items were stolen, Old Town police Officer Lee Miller said Monday that the thief or thieves entered the Old Town Trading Post through a smashed out front window.

Miller said the burglary occurred between the hours of 2 a.m., when a sergeant who was on patrol passed by and found the window intact, and about 6:30 a.m., when the burglary was discovered.

Miller said police are pursuing several leads and asked that anyone with information about the burglary to call Detective James Slauenwhite at 827-3984.
