OLD TOWN, Maine — An 18-year-old local man was arrested on a felony charge Sunday after he allegedly pointed a loaded AK-47 at his mother, according to Old Town police.

Alexander Deck, who is charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, remained at Penobscot County Jail on Monday night, unable to post bail set at $10,000 cash, Old Town police Officer Lee Miller said, citing an arrest report.

The episode that led to Deck’s arrest began shortly after noon, when Deck allegedly became upset that his mother, who was showering, would not allow him to use the bathroom, Miller said.

After a couple more attempts to gain entry into the bathroom, Deck’s mother became frustrated and told Decker that she wanted him to leave and not come back because she was tired of him giving her “attitude,” the officer said.

Deck then reportedly fetched the firearm, pointed it at his mother and cocked the trigger, Miller said.

“There was a bullet in the chamber,” Miller said.

Decker’s mother then called the police, Miller said, adding that she was trembling and visibly shaken when officers arrived.

MIller said the AK-47 as well as several other guns were confiscated. He said that if Deck is released on bail, he will not be allowed to return to his mother’s home at Riverside Mobile Home Park.
