Bomb threats reported at Walmart stores in Calais, Thomaston, Palmyra

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff
Updated:

Bomb threats at Walmart stores were reported in three towns throughout the state on Friday afternoon.

Calais Police Chief David Randle confirmed the store in that town received a threat, and Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said threats were also reported in Thomaston and Palmyra.

Randle said police in Calais are no longer at the scene, and the store was expected to reopen late Friday afternoon.

Calais police, Calais firefighters and the U.S. Border Patrol all responded to that report, but Randle did not disclose any specifics on what, if any, suspicious devices were found.

McCausland did confirm the threats in Palmyra and Thomaston but information on those incidents wasn’t immediately available.

Calls to Thomaston police weren’t immediately returned.
