BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor teenager charged with felony assault and terrorizing made his initial court appearance Friday. He appeared in court through video conferencing.

Darney Adams, 19, is accused of attacking two Acadia Hospital staff members shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday, Bangor police Sgt. David Bushey said Friday.

Bushey said that the police report did not indicate what prompted the assaults but he did say that at least one of the employees had visible injuries.

Adams remains at Penobscot County Jail, where he is being held on $25,000 cash bail, a jail official confirmed. He is charged with aggravated assault, a Class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, Class C assault, which carries a penalty of up to five years in prison, and terrorizing, a Class D misdemeanor.

His next court appearance is set for Jan. 9, the jail official said.
