Police say same suspect robbed Augusta Shaw’s pharmacy for second time this week

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

AUGUSTA, Maine — The pharmacy at Shaw’s on Western Avenue was robbed for the second time in three days on Wednesday, and police believe the same suspect is responsible for both.

Deputy Chief Jared Mills said a white male in his 20s entered the supermarket shortly after noon on Wednesday and went straight to the pharmacy.

Mills said the suspect handed a pharmacist a note of threatening nature, demanding OxyContin pills, which the suspect escaped with.

No weapon was shown in the robbery, the deputy chief said.

A dog was used to track the suspect after he escaped, but he remains at large, according to Mills.

Officers believe the same man used a threatening note to obtain OxyContin pills in the Monday afternoon robbery. A video surveillance image of the suspect was released by police.

Anyone who has seen the man should call Augusta police at 626-2370.
